GHMC attaches SIRD properties worth Rs 1.59 crore

HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials on Wednesday attached two Volvo buses, a Swaraj Mazda, CPUs and a color printer belonging to the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Rajendranagar, for Rs 1.59 crore property tax dues.

According to an official release on Wednesday, the SIRD has to pay dues of Rs Rs 75.45 lakh (up to March 31, 2013). Though the GHMC had served notices several times on the government agency, there was no reply. As per the demand notice, the current property tax is Rs 25.49 lakh and the total interest calculated for arrears and current property tax is Rs 58.76 lakh. In all, the government agency has to pay Rs 1.59 crore.

A GHMC team, led by deputy commissioner (circle 6) Chandrasekhara Reddy, attached two Volvo buses (AP 28 TB 5898 and AP 28 TB 5897), a Swaraj Mazda (AP 28 U 9382) and a CPU and HP/ colour printers/Xerox. The authorities have also issued inventory to the administration manager, SIRD.

Meanwhile, GHMC East Zone (L B Nagar) circle-III authorities on Wednesday seized an electronic balance machine worth Rs 1.12 lakh from property owner B Babu Rao (door no: 4-13-101) for defaulting on property tax. Similarly, the authorities have also seized a sewing machine from a property owner, D Shobharani (door No: 4-13-105) for defaulting on payment Rs 1.36 lakh property tax.
