GHMC to Upgrade Handheld Tax Bill Issuing Machines

HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has so far been using handheld machines for delivering property tax bills and collecting payments from the property owners. Currently there are 398 machines in use. To take complete  leverage of existing devices and infrastructure, the GHMC has  decided to expand the scope of the existing application to include more features to issue demand and make collection of other taxes.

The scope of the proposed upgradation are trade license fee collection and issue of demand notice, advertisement fee collection, estate rental charges collection and issue of demand notice, professional tax collection and integration GPRS communication with GHMC server for both demand download and receipt update.

In this connection, the GHMC has invited bids from software  agencies for development of the existing handheld machines including warranty period of one year for the software and integration with GHMC applications.

The proposed software upgradation that is required in handheld, spot billing machine software are trade license fee collection, issue of new license which should include PTIN, firm name, usage category, sub-category, printing acknowledgment receipt.

They said that renewal of licenses should have PTIN to retrieve details, current amount, current interest, arrears and current garbage charges etc with acceptance of payment and print receipt.

The advertisement fee collection software would include issue of new license, agency name, advertisement details, print of acknowledgment receipt and for renewal of trade licenses it would have agency code to retrieve details, current amount, interest, arrears. The same will be estate rental charges collection on GHMC properties and monthly rent collection.

For professional tax collection the software will have employee tax collection, company code to retrieve details, printing of demand notice.

They said that corporation proposes to re-engineer the current property tax application with upload and load features. The integration and customisation of hand held machine billing software will be according to the present tariff and supply codes specified by the GHMC.
