PATNA: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi announced here on Sunday that the state government will formulate a policy to give homestead land rights to the homeless Mahadalits across the state. He was addressing a Mahadalit Adhikar Sammelan at Chulhaichak locality of the state capital.
The CM, who received a warm welcome from the Mahadalits, also announced that five handpumps each will be installed in all the 10 adjoining hamlets having Mahadalit population. These include Chulhaichak, Kothwa, Sabrinagar, Dhanaut, Mahuabagh, Govindpur, Jalalpur, Rupaspur, Abhimanyunagar and Jagdeo Path. A health check-up camp was also organized on the occasion.
A special camp, the CM said, will be organized in the state capital for the identification and certification of differently-abled persons of the marginalized sections of society to empower them and make benefits of welfare schemes available to them at their doorstep.
Patna divisional commissioner N Vijay Lakshmi said on the occasion that another specialized drive for the registration of unskilled workers of the marginalized communities will be held simultaneously, besides a mega health check-up drive for the womenfolk of the area.
