CHANDIGARH: In a jolt to Haryana government and major realtors of the NCR, the Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday stayed the Faridabad master plan 2031 that was recently notified by the state.
A division bench headed by Justice Surya Kant passed these orders after hearing a petition alleging mala fide intention of the state in hurriedly finalizing the plan to accommodate certain politicians, builders and land mafia. The next hearing in the case is scheduled on September 16.
Some residents of Faridabad had approached the HC against state government's move to finalize the master plan. The petitioners informed the court that Faridabad was a sub-region of NCR and the Haryana government ought to have prepared a sub-regional plan up till 2021 for their area in consonance with the regional plan 2021 of NCR as provided under the NCR Planning Board Act, 1985.
They further stated in their plea that instead of preparing a sub-regional plan till 2021, the state urban local bodies department notified the draft development plan 2031 on July 18, for the area that was inside limits of Faridabad municipal corporation.
Petitioners further alleged that the draft plan was uploaded on the website of the concerned department after 25 days of notification on August 12, counting the last date of inviting objections from July 18.
