NOIDA: Noida Authority on Sunday removed encroachment along Noida-GreaterNoida Expressway. The authority officials claimed to have freed nearly one lakhsq meter land worth over Rs 50 crore. The officials said that in the coming days the drive against illegal encroachment would continue.

Following the direction of Noida Authority chairman and CEO Rama Raman, the drive was conducted in Khasra number 695, 768, 769, 788, 793 and 795 in Gulawali village. Noida Authority deputy CEO Rajesh Prakash said that on Sunday, a joint team of Noida police and Noida Authority officials conducted drive in Gulawali village and free nearly one lakh sq. meter land worth over Rs 50 crore. Prakash said that in the coming days the drive would be continued against errant land encroachers, who are cheating the innocent people.

Prakash said that in several sectors especially along Noida-Greater Noida Expressway massive encroachment has taken place and to remove all illegal establishments, once or twice a week now drive would be conducted by Noida Authority and Noida police.

TOI has been constantly highlighting how land sharks have been cheating investors by promising them farmhouses and plots on prime locations at the cost of flats right under the nose of the Gautam Budh Nagar administration in various sectors along Noida-Greater Noida Expressway especially around Sector 151. Government sources said a probe is now being conducted as illegal activity on such a large scale cannot be conducted without the involvement of officials of Noida Authority, district administration, irrigation, electricity and stamp and revenue departments.

In several sectors including Sector 143-148, sector 161, sector 151, sector 163, sector 164, sector 160, sector 153 and sector 154 massive encroached has taken place. Land sharks after plotting on the notified land are selling innocent people. Some of land sharks are cheating people in the name of farm houses.

"In the last one year, the Authority has continuously conducted drives to make Noida encroachment free. Despite stringent actions, illegal establishments mushroomed again. So now we have decided to take on land sharks intensively and running the drive regular basis," said Noida Authority chairman and CEO Rama Raman.

"We understand the value of hard earned money of common men and we do not want that common men should be cheated by land sharks. We will not only remove illegal establishments but also lodge FIRs against the land sharks and their hands. If any government employee is found guilty, he or she will also have to face the music," Raman added.

"To avoid legal trouble, it is advisable for buyers to check whether the property is genuine or not. All land in Noida is notified and leasehold and there is no freehold provision in the district. However, land sharks have been selling land with a freehold title. Home or land aspirants must beware of such violators," Raman said.

Raman further said, "This is a wakeup call for all violators. It's also a request to all buyers to properly check details of flats or plots before buying. We have asked the state government to form a special task force consisting of irrigation, revenue, district administration and Noida Authority officials to take action against developers selling floodplains land, which are the most encroached in the district."

The real estate sector has welcome the decision and demand regular drive to ensure stringent against land mafias.
