DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh government on August 13 took a major decision to attract investment by entrepreneurs in Noida and Greater Noida. In a meeting chaired by the chief secretary it was decided to launch an initiative to improve policing and provide adequate electricity to industries in the region.
Officials said that approval for the entire process will take a month.
The infrastructure and industrial development commissioner, Alok Ranjan, told TOI that the meeting focused on attracting investment by providing quality services. “We want to bring world-class policing in UP-NCR, comprising Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. It was decided that the infrastructure and industry department will fully fund police modernization by purchasing GPS-fitted vehicles, arms, constructing offices and police stations,” Ranjan said. The proposal will be produced before the UP cabinet and after its nod change in policing will be seen from October.
Uttar Pradesh principal secretary (home), RM Srivastav, said that according to the new proposal five new police stations (Noida Phase-III, Noida Expressway, Ecotech-1, Ecotech-3 and Knowledge Park) will be constructed and land has been earmarked for the projects.
He added that 90 PCR vans, 94 leopards (motorbike patrols), 19 SUVs with hi-tech equipment, 109 static wireless sets will also be provided to police in the twin cities.
Ranjan said the Noida Authority chairman has been asked to hold meeting with industrialists to understand their problems, especially power related issues.
Meanwhile, property developers are upbeat at this announcement. They said that additional security will instill a sense of confidence among investors and industrialists thereby leading to large-scale development in the region. “Sensitizing and training of police will help us get better services. With this endeavour of the state government, the region will become a hub of real estate, commercial and international tourist destination,” said Amit Gupta, MD, Orris Infrastructure and member Assocham.
