Civic body demolishes illegal structures, fines owners

AHMEDABAD: The estate and encroachment department demolished illegal construction spread over 2,200 sq ft area in shed No 38 in Bhavani estate near Revabhai estate in Amraiwadi extension in Inderpuri ward on Tuesday. The industrial complex under construction was pulled down by the south zone team of the AMC after it was found being erected without proper permissions. Illegal industrial construction was being carried out on the space meant for residential purpose. The AMC is demolishing all the construction work done after March 28, 2011, if found violating section 260 of the BPMC Act.

Earlier in the week, the estate and encroachment department demolished illegal structures at various locations in west zone. Illegal commercial shed near Sanyas ashram in Navrangpura, illegal flats in Kalptaru flats in old Vadaj and a small illegal religious structure near Vardhman apartment in Naranpura were razed down during the daylong exercise. AMC team also removed five illegal haordings from Vijay crossroad to Helmet crossroads and fined Rs 6760 to the owners.

In another exercise, the estate and urban development department of the AMC cleared 500 m road stretch of illegal structures in Motera Stadium Extension. The west zone AMC team removed the illegal structures on the stretch from Sabarmati to Motera in TP scheme 21 and cleared the road for traffic. The area space belonged to the AMC.
