Illegal constructions of eight properties demolished

SURAT: As a first part of the mega Demolition drive under taken by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) , illegally constructed portions of eight properties were demolished in Central zone area of the city. In all 69,00 sq meters of illegally constructed top floors of properties were demolished with the help of 150 strong staff and machines.

" Police was not pressed in service at any of the places but had to call in their help at couple of places as there were chances of a verbal spats that could have resulted in violence." Said an official from Central zone.

The illegal portions of the properties demolished were located in Sindhivad of Sagrampura, Gopipura, Soni faliya main road, Parsi sheri Navapura, Moti talkiz and Hathiwala Sheri in Begumpura, Nanavat Main road and Rohit Faliya Hodi Bungalow .

SMC has identified a few hundred properties where illegal constructions have taken place in the heart of the city . In majority of the cases, residential and Commercial property owners have constructed additional floor on sanctioned plans of construction . All these additional floor constructions were demolished on Saturday.
