GURGAON: The district administration has initiated proceedings against a builder for harassing a flat owner who had complained to the grievances panel last week.
The flat owner had said the builder was demanding a penalty of Rs 65,000 for not paying interest on delayed payments. The complaint was heard in the recent grievances committee meeting held last week. The complainant, B S Gulia, had booked a 2BHK flat in 2006 in Faridabad and had paid Rs 2.5 lakh for booking.
A senior administration official said the builder had been asked to submit the documents relating to the complaint. "Two years after the booking I came to know no construction had started and I asked them to return my money but the builder did not return it. In 2009, the builder asked for a payment of Rs 3.5 lakh ," Gulia said.
He approached the district administration in 2011 when the builder threatened to cancel the allotment of the flat. He alleged the builder had initially agreed to waive interest on the delayed payment but asked for Rs 65,000 citing unpaid interest earlier this year.
