BANGALORE: The city police on Wednesday detained and questioned 10 people in connection with the murder of realtor C Srinivas, the husband of BBMP councillor Manjula Devi.

Although senior police officials refused to confirm the development, it is learnt that one of the two Central Crime Branch (CCB) teams formed to investigate the case has left for Andhra Pradesh. The other team is interrogating the detained suspects.

Police are also questioning those involved in an attack on Srinivas in April last year. At least eight people who were arrested in this regard and are now out on bail are being questioned on suspicion that they may be involved in Srinivas’ murder, sources said.

Senior police officials said preliminary investigations have revealed that real estate and political rivalry were primary reasons for the murder. “We’ve got various clues to indicate that the investigation is on the right track. However, it is too soon to pinpoint the exact motive for the murder and who is involved in the crime,” said a senior police official.

Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar said the CCB was investigating the case and the perpetrators of the crime would be caught soon. “Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case and the fact that it could hinder investigations, we cannot reveal any details at this stage,” he said.
