DELHI: Global hospitality major Hilton Worldwide is set to open the first Hilton Garden Inn property in Trivandrum by the end of the month. The hotel set to open on December 27, 2013 will be a 134-room property located on Punnen Road.
This Hilton Garden Inn hotel is owned by Muthoot Hotels & Infrastructure Ventures (P) Ltd and will be managed by the American hospitality chain. Guy Hutchinson, vice president, operations od India said that India was a strategic market for Hilton Worldwide. "Over the next eight to 10 months, we anticipate extending our portfolio to include Bangalore, Agra and Jaipur," he added.
While this property will be a mid-market hotel, world over, Hilton has over 4,000 hotels in its portfolio across categories. The group has around 665,000 rooms across 90 countries.
Earlier this week, the group had also announced that it had inked an agreement with Amrit Bottlers Pvt Ltd to set up another Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
Recently, British hotel chain Intercontinental Hospitality Group (IHG), too, took over two Hilton hotels in Delhi increasing its portfolio in India from 15 to 17 hotels.
