CT search on real estate developers, jewellers

INDORE: Anti-evasion wing of commercial tax department, Madhya Pradesh, carried out search on the office and residential premises of some real estate developers, jewellers and telecom companies in city on Friday. 

A team of 30 officials from Indore and Ujjain searched four premises of real estate developers and other firms. Business and residential premises of Mahakal private limited and Highway link which are into real estate business were raided. 

Search was also held at city-based electronics shop Gnext Trading Company Private Limited and telecom company Gnext Telecom Private Limited. 

"A team is carrying out the search operation. We are suspecting the developers have been hiding their transaction details and evading taxes," said a senior commercial tax official, adding, real estate developers are registered either as work contractor or builder. 

Department has recovered cheques worth Rs 38 lakh from the premises. Apart from this, search was also carried out at C21 mall in Ujjain at Nanakheda bus stand and a subsidiary firm Shreenath Jewellers from Indore. 

Directors of the firm Keshav Nachani and Kamal Nachani are under the department's scanner. "It is suspected that the company has been evading entry tax on imported goods," official said.
