PUNE: A group of residents have made a demand to the Pune civic administration that it should consider allotment of additional Floor Space Index (FSI) to housing societies for the flood affected people.
A statement issued by the citizens group said that the residents of the societies have lost their properties in the flood. PMC should therefore consider the plea for granting extra FSI in the development plan.
The residents have formed an all party committee to raise the issues of flood affected people. The committee has also made a demand that quality of houses of the existing societies should improve. Residents of Parvati, Dattawadi, Gokhalenar flood affected societies are part of this committee. The committee has given their suggestions about the revised development plan (DP) of the city.
The general body had approved the draft DP for old city areas in the second week of January. In October 2012, the city improvement committee approved the 20-year DP for the years 2007-2027, with special provisions for metro rail project, a transport hub, expansion of main roads, schemes for housing for the needy and cluster development of old wadas.
The earlier DP was drafted in 1982 and was approved in 1987. The plan ended in 1997, but was extended for 10 years since only 20% of the works proposed in the development plan could be completed.
