PUNE: Representatives of Credai Pune Metro will meet the state revenue minister on January 10 to discuss their concerns over the steep rise in the ready reckoner rates for properties in the state, which the government has implemented from January 1.

The developers said the hike is as much as 40% for certain deals. They also wanted the state government to clarify the basis for the increase in the rates and explain the logic behind different riders that come as footnotes to the rate schedule that hike the rates further.

Credai Pune Metro office bearers, at the instance of the revenue minister, on January 9 met S Chockalingam, state inspector general of registrations (IGR), to appraise him about the developers’ concerns over the possible jump in real estate rates in the city. Representatives of developers from Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Nashik and other cities were also present.

A statement from the developers’ body said the meeting with the IGR lasted three hours. The IGR agreed to consider the issues and assured that he will refer the matter to the government.
