PUNE: Citizens can now access all the details about the building permissions sanctioned by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) since 1982, on the civic body’s website.
The corporation said on January 8 that the details have been put up on the website – pcmcindia.gov.in – mainly to make people aware about unauthorised constructions in the city.
This follows an order issued by the Aurangabad division of the Bombay high court last month. The order included directions for the state government that all its departments should consider posting details about building permissions sanctioned by them on their websites.
A statement released by the PCMC on January 8 said that following an ordinance issued by the state government in March 2012, the civic body had immediately initiated steps against the growth of unauthorised constructions. Designated officers have been appointed in each of the four zonal areas and concerted action is being taken against illegal structures. The corporation said that since June 2012, it also started creating public awareness about unauthorised constructions.
In August last year, the PCMC published public notices about such constructions, mainly to caution people that they may get duped into purchasing flats or tenements in these buildings.
The civic body’s website now has details of all sanctioned building permissions since 1982, along with area-wise details, survey numbers and names of architects and developers. The PCMC has also posted details about unauthorised constructions that have come up after June 2012. Police complaints have been lodged against the persons responsible for these constructions and many of these structures have been demolished, the civic administration has said.
The website also has details of development plans, land reservations and maps, which will help citizens verify whether a structure has been built on land reserved under the development plan. This will increase citizens’ participation in the implementation of the development plan.
