PUNE: In the fast growing Pimpri Chinchwad, most of the new residential and commercial buildings are coming up in Wakad, Moshi, Ravet, Chikhli and Pimple Nilakh. With the increase in building permissions granted by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, the civic body has earned Rs 335 crore in 2013-14, the highest revenue so far.

The chief of the building permission department, said that more permissions are being sought for projects in the villages of Chikhli, Punawale, Moshi, Kiwale, Ravet, Pimpale Gurav and others.

While the permissions granted in Wakad and Pimpale Nilakh have reduced or remained constant, the number continues to be high, as per the corporation’s data.

The civic body granted 1,166 building permissions during 2013-14. In the previous financial year, it had sanctioned 907 projects, many of which were in Pimple Saudagar, Wakad, Sangvi and nearby areas.

PUNE: In 2013-14, the department had set a revenue target of Rs 327 crore, but ended up earning Rs 335 crore. Pathan attributed the increase in revenue to simplified procedures. “The department has to grant the building permission to the applicant within two months of the application if he has fulfilled all the necessary conditions. Earlier, we required around two months to give the permission as the officials had to conduct physical verification of property ownership documents. Now, online scrutiny of applications helps in saving time.”

Besides, former municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi had delegated the powers to grant permissions to lower ranked officials. Now, a deputy engineer can grant building permissions for plots measuring up to 20 ‘gunthas’, while a deputy city engineer/ executive engineer has the powers to grant permissions for plots up to one acre.

The city engineer can grant permissions for plots measuring more than one acre.
