BHUBANESWAR/KORAPUT: After seizing 1,000 silver coins worth nearly Rs 44 lakh from Seashore Group CMD Prasant Dash's bank locker, the Crime Branch (CB) has launched a drive to locate more silver coins and gold ingots, which the company had allegedly purchased in past few years.
"We came to know that the company purchased huge quantities of gold and silver ornaments and coins. Dash must have hidden them at undisclosed locations," said a senior CB officer. "The jewellery store owner from where Dash purchased the silver coins told us that the company purchased more than 1,000 coins," the officer said.
The CB has also written a letter to Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) to cancel lease of a 100-acre land in Nabarangapur district, where the company had proposed a maize processing unit. Seashore Group had tied up with several state government departments to execute projects in public-private partnership mode.
In a related development, Koraput district and sessions judge Ajit Patnaik rejected the bail petition of Dash on Monday.
