BHUBANESWAR: While the West Bengal Government has made substantial progress in distributing compensation to chit fund victims, the duped investors of Odisha are not as lucky.
For, the `300 crore corpus fund created by the State Government has not yet received the approval of the Controller General of Accounts of India (CGAI).
The Finance Department, while furnishing reply to an RTI query from activist Pradip Pradhan, has confirmed that though the sum was provided in the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure 2013-14, it is yet to get the nod from the CGAI.
Probe in the chit fund scam in Odisha has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation which has registered 43 cases. The FIRs of these cases have been handed over to the Special CBI Judge’s Court in Bhubaneswar but investigation is yet to begin.
