BHUBANESWAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of State Crime Branch today arrested controversial Seashore Group’s chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) Prashant Dash from Mumbai.
The investigation agency would take Das in two-day transit remand after producing him in a Mumbai court tomorrow, a senior Crime Branch official said.
Accused of swindling crores of money from gullible investors selling ponzi schemes, Das had remained incommunicado after allegations of financial fraud piled up against him.
A special team of EOW, which had been chasing Das from Gujarat, managed to catch him around 6 pm after camping in Mumbai for the last seven days.
He has been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed against him in Koraput in 2012 and charged under IPC sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).
