KORAPUT: Tension gripped Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's (HAL) unit at Sunabeda in Koraput district as land losers forcibly ploughed around 50 acre on its premises on Monday.

The agitators were demanding jobs in the company and compensation to the persons displaced by the navratna PSU.

Sources said over 200 villagers of Totaput, Bilaiguda, Sindhiput, Solaput, Katigaon and Pangiput under the banner of HAL Displaced Persons Association carried out the unique protest.

They alleged that though they have lost their land to HAL during its inception in the mid-60s, no compensation was paid to them and not a single family member provided permanent job in the PSU.
