CHENNAI: Officials of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on Tuesday sealed a multi-storey building being built on Millers Road in Kilpauk for violating its plan approval.
A note from CMDA said the owner had obtained plan sanction for the construction of a three-storey (ground plus two floors) building with six flats. However, he had constructed five floors over the ground floor with 16 flats.
Further, while the owner had obtained permission to construct the building with stilt flooring on the ground, he had constructed two shops instead on the ground floor.
The building was locked and sealed for deviation and unauthorised construction under the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.
The step was taken as the owner did not rectify the defects pointed out in a notice served in May last year, the note added.
