KANPUR: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA)'s efforts to check the construction in sealed buildings proved insufficient as construction work was still underway in those buildings.

Several builders have broken the seal and have started the construction at a fast pace. Residents of Nirala Nagar, Chakeri, Rawatpur and Sharda Nagar have recently sent ongoing constructing work photographs to the additional secretary KDA.

The secretary asked his subordinate staff to inquire into the matter and has also asked the officials to match the old photographs with new one and take action in case of violation.

More than 300 structures in city were sealed this year after a tough stand taken by KDA vice chairman Jaishree Bhoj. In a bid to check the illegal construction in the city, VC had taken several measures including regular transfers of junior engineers.
