KANPUR: Kanpur Municipal Corporation announces rebate on house tax to attract house owners so that they deposit tax. In the current financial, KMC had extended the date of rebate twice but could not get proper response so far. Residents claimed that officers had linked ward 23 with ward 25 and applied the rates of well-developed Kidwainagar locality while Bamburahiya, which was declared as slum. It was gross injustice to them and they would oppose it. How could an underdeveloped locality could be placed at par with a developed locality, they questioned.
House tax bills are still are not served to several house owners.
According to sources, more than 50,000 bills are still dumped in zonal offices and employees have no time to serve them to house owners. And those who had received the bills had complained that these had been enhanced by more than 15%, though municipal corporation had announced that only 10% of previous year's tax had been enhanced.
Corporator Haji Suhail claimed that residents of Shastrinagar, Beconganj, Kidwainagar, Saketnagar, Juhi, Yashodanagar, Macharia other localities did not get bills.
Residents of Bamburahiya locality, which comes under ward number 23, complained that bill was not served them so far. RK Singh, a resident said he was waiting for bill and lodge protest against it in writing.
They alleged that instead of delivering the bills, the revenue inspectors are asking the house owners that they should go to municipal corporation office and get a duplicate bill.
Another corporator Paramjeet Kaur alleged that at some places revenue inspectors were asking for 'suvidha shulk'.
