LUCKNOW: There is no end to civic woes faced by the allottees of Riverview Apartments in Gomtinagar Extension. After a surprise inspection of the apartments on Thursday night, LDA secretary Asthabhuja Tewari ordered to raze a huge green patch in front of Sharda Apartments on Friday.

Officials said the orders came in accordance with the chief minister's instruction to dismantle the original structure for developing a green belt and instead build a better green patch on it. While residents protested, the patch was removed and earth was temporarily filled in.

Residents of other apartments fear that LDA would be razing green patches in front of their buildings too. KK Singh said, "We have written a letter to the DM stating that we disagree with the dismantling of the original structure and building of a new one. We also went to meet the CM but could not do so."

Other residents said if the LDA team again comes to raze the structure, they will strongly oppose the move. "We have plantations here and a jogging track which we use in the morning. LDA didn't give us good construction and facilities and it is dismantling the existent facilities too", said Ajay Gupta, another allottee.

LDA, on the other hand maintained that it wanted to develop a better and uniform green patch in front of all buildings, running parallel to the main road. LDA had built four apartments - Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati and Sharda in the first phase of the project, offering about 1,000 flats. The flats later came under CM's radar after receiving complaints from allottees about faulty design, poor construction and undelivered promises.
