BHUBANESWAR: The crime branch (CB) on Saturday seized 1,000 silver coins, each weighing 100 grams, from a bank locker of Seashore Group's CMDPrasant Dash, who has been charged with misappropriating investors' money worth Rs 450 crore.
CB economic offences wing (EOW) DIG Rajesh Kumar said the one quintal coins worth Rs 44 lakh were seized from Dash's locker at Axis Bank's Bomikhal branch in the city. "We had information about the silver (coins) stored there. During interrogations, Dash admitted about it. We broke open the locker after a discussion with bank officials," Kumar said.
The identical coins are inscribed with Seashore logo at the centre and written "Seashore" and "PURE SILVER BDJ BBSR" on the periphery on one side. The other side has images of Lord Ganesh and goddess Laxmi. From the letters "BDJ", police suspect the silver was procured from Bishandayal Jewellers in the capital.
Meanwhile, a court in Jeypore town in Koraput district rejected Dash's bail application. The SDJM Jeypore remanded him in 14 days judicial custody.
