NOIDA: The office of Property Consultant Group (PCG) at D-5 (second floor) in Noida's Sector 10 is fairly busy, with people dropping in to enquire about Gulistaan Golf View Heights, the recently launched upmarket housing project targeted exclusively at Muslims at Sports City, Sector 1, Greater Noida (West).
Brochures in green, with layout plans and major highlights of the project are in demand. PCG is the main marketing partner selling the project by the Adarsh group. "We're getting so many queries, the inventory is finishing up fast," said Danish Abad, who is selling the apartments to a "select clientele".
Yet, even as demand for the project grows, the website of Gulistaan Golf View Heights "www.Gulistaan.info", and most of the links posted on it, have been pulled off the internet after TOI reported on it on Sunday. It is now being marketed solely by PCG through printed brochures.
Advocate Kuldeep Nagar, president of Legal and Social Interest For Public Initiative, on Tuesday lodged formal complaints against the project on behalf of his legal activists' cell with the Union home ministry and UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. "In a country like India, how can someone build an apartment complex exclusively for one community? This way, we'd end up dividing society even more. Also, 3.5 acres is a lot of land. We need to know how this concept got cleared," Nagar told TOI.
PCG's Abad, however, is confident of Gulistaan's success. "We're aware of the ongoing debate. We have the support of people who think there is a need for such an apartment. We're sure it will be a success," he said.
Greater Noida Authority is also looking into the issue. "For certain, we have not sold land to any group to build a community-specific complex. There are many builders in Sports City, though, and we're now trying to find out who resold or passed on their plot for this project," said Harish Verma, ACEO, GNIDA.
Repeated calls to Saleem Zafar, CEO of Adarsh, who was initially promoting the project, went unanswered.
