Delhi government hopeful of regularizing 1,400 colonies

DELHI: The Delhi government is now set to steer regularization of over 200 colonies out of the 1,639 colonies that did not have 50% built up area on 2007. According to the 2008 guidelines laid out by the Centre, the colonies were to have 50% built-up area as on 2007 to get a “legal” tag. With the relaxation of norms, the state is hopeful of highlighting almost 1,400 colonies as regularized before the model code of conduct for the assembly polls in declared.

GANDHINAGAR: The state cabinet has cleared four low-cost housing schemes under the Mukhyamantri Aavas Samruddhi Yojana for the lower income group (LIG), the middle income group (MIG) and the urban poor. However, the government is yet to announce an affordable housing policy. The schemes approved are slum-rehabilitation scheme; housing schemes for neo-middle class, economically weaker sections and low-income group and a scheme for ‘in situ’ pukka houses for slum-dwellers.
