Gujarat, along with Kerala, Rajasthan and Karnataka, has got the highest number of smart cities in the country. Though detailed plan of financial assistance is yet to be made public, these seven cities will get at least Rs 100 crore direct grants over the next five years.
Gujarat expects a minimum Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 crore grant for smart cities in the current year. "Apart from Rs 100 crore minimum grant allocation to each city, we expect prompt approval to a number of projects in all seven cities," said a source.
