BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has proposed to set up a multi-storey market complex and launch a housing scheme in Khurda.
At BDA’s Advisory Council meeting here on Tuesday, it was proposed that the market complex will spread over three acres and for the housing scheme, the BDA is expected to ask Government machinery to expedite provisioning of land. Some political representatives from Khurda, who had requested for setting up the market complex in their area, have assured the BDA of helping in identifying land for the projects.
Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo and Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Ashok Panda attended the meeting along with Bhubaneswar MLAs Bijay Mohanty (Central) and Priyadarshi Mishra (North). Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor AN Jena, Police Commissioner RP Sharma and officials of Bhubaneswar Airport Authority, who are also part of BDA’s Advisory Council, were present.
The last advisory council meeting was held in March, 2013, though it is supposed to be conducted every six months. Other issues discussed at the meeting included stock-taking and compliance with decisions taken at the last meeting and shifting of BDA’s planning section to BMC. It was decided that the planning section should be shifted whenever BMC is ready and equipped with manpower to handle the responsibility.
