NAVI MUMBAI: The city builders, who have put up stalls at Credai-BANM's 15th property exhibition, say that they are expecting a turnover of approximately Rs 2,500 crore within a span of three months. But BANM president Devang Trivedi also said that the only affordable housing schemes will come from the Naina project, and hence there was a need to expedite the project.
Trivedi said that although people from Mumbai suburbs are opting for Navi Mumbai flats now, the city is no longer a segment for affordable housing. He said that the only option left is Cidco's Naina project. "Huge areas will be available for development of housing projects at affordable rates under Naina project." he also said that affordable housing near Panvel can be possible if Cidco decided to create a department which will only concentrate on allotment of land and clearing titles by issuing commencement certificates (CC) for Naina project. "Naina project is the only option for affordable housing," he said.
He added that cost of housing projects along Mumbai-Goa highway, Mukbai-Pune road or Shilphata, have also sky-rocketed as the CCs are not issued easily, causing delay and increasing cost of the flats. More than 500 proposed and completed housing projects were being offered at the 12 stalls set up at the exhibition, which is being held at Cidco exhibition centre, Vashi.
