Bhubaneswar: Municipal Commissioner Sanjib Mishra welcomed the single window proposal for clearance of approvals required for constructing a building at the technical session organised by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (Credai), Odisha chapter, on Sunday to bring together civic authorities and realtors to deliberate on latter’s difficulties.
Mishra underscored that 74th Constitutional Amendment Act focuses on greater financial independence for municipal corporations. He said BMC should be given the authority to approve plans. This way the number of no objection certificates (NOCs) will be lessened . “Namesake responsibility is of no use. The body should be vested with authority to execute and take action,” said Mishra. Credai members have been demanding a single window system for clearance and approval of building plans for real estate developers.
He cited examples of municipal corporation of Ahmedabad that has been given complete authority to sanction plans. The amendment has not been implemented properly in the State. Credai Odisha chapter president DS Tripathy spoke about the need to reduce NoCs, a single window and a proper compensation system for the land losers.
