NASHIK: The Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (Credai ), Nashik has decided to team up with the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) for cleanliness activities in the city during next year's Kumbh Mela.

Credai has said it would provide every help, from providing dustbins to installing signboards in the city, during the event and will also hold talks with the civic body for the purpose.

Anant Rajegaonkar, president, Credai, Maharashtra, said, "We will take initiative in sanitation and other necessary sectors for the Kumbh Mela if we are given responsibility by the authority. Our priority will be to work towards 'zero waste' in the city during the event. We want to work together with the municipal corporation. Our members will provide full co-operatio . We will soon hold a meeting with the municipal officials on the issue."

Jayesh Thakkar, president, Credai, Nashik, said, "We are planning to get involved in various activities related to Kumbh, particularly sanitation. We will provide dustbins and other equipment required for the sanitation to the municipal corporation. The objective is to keep the city clean during Kumbh Mela as lakhs of people will visit to the city next year during kumbh."

Nashik is one of the four cities in the country where Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years. The next Kumbh Mela is beginning from July 14, 2015 and will continue till August 10, 2016. Around 75 lakh people and three lakh sadhus are expected to visit Nashik during the kumbh mela.

As a result, sanitation will be one of the major challenges before the NMC administration during the Kumbh Mela. Keeping this in mind, the Credai has decided to provide all necessary help to the municipal corporation.

The civic and district administrations have already started preparations for various projects associated with the Kumbh Mela. The event will begin with flag hoisting on July 14, 2015. The first shahi snan will take place on August 29 2015, while the second and third shahi snan will take place on September 13 and September 18, respectively, next year.
