NAGPUR: District guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has forwarded a proposal mooted by Dubai-based realty company Smart City for building a township spread over 400 acres in Mihan. The matter was discussed with officials of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) here.
MLA from Hingna Sameer Meghe briefed about the projects developed by Smart City during the meeting. It was also informed that the process is underway to take back the land allotted to 15 companies as the projects planned by the entities have not come up so far.
District collector Abhishek Krishna, who is also MADC's joint managing director, said the offer by Smart City is still at a preliminary stage. A team from Smart City will be visiting the site after which a final decision on the land to be offered may be taken. So far land for residential projects has been only offered in the non-processing area of the Mihan-Special Economic Zone (SEZ). After controversy over allotting land for realty projects in SEZ, the non-processing area was excluded from the notified SEZ.
