INDORE: Madhya Pradesh high court on Wednesday issued notices to Board of Revenue, Gwalior and real estate companies — Navaratan Tech Built Pvt Ltd and Shraddha Buildcon Pvt Ltd on a petition challenging encroachment over government land by Omaxe City-I on Bypass road.
Justice S C Sharma gave four-week time to the real estate companies jointly developing the township and the Board to file replies.
Punit Govil, a resident who filed the petition through advocate Manish Verma challenging the encroachment and selling government land as residential plots, said after purchasing plots in the township, he came to know that the said township was not equipped with amenities and facilities as promised by the company.
"When enquired I learnt that the township is an encroachment on government land," said Govil.
The petitioner later filed a complaint with district administration and police.
The petition claimed that after completing inquiry, the revenue authorities have registered a case against the township under provisions of Madhya Pradesh Land Revenue Code and issued notices for vacating the land. However, the township obtained a stay from Board of Revenue and the case is pending since last one and half year.
''The petition was filed challenging encroachment on government land by township and stay granted by the revenue board,'' he added.
