Kanpur: Environment department has given green signal to Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) projects for the construction of 1,708 flats at three places in the city.
KDA had floated the projects in January last but in the absence of sanction by the environment department, the fate of these projects was hanging in balance.
According to an official of KDA, all projects have been delayed by six months. The flats are proposed to be constructed at Kalyanpur and Bithoor Road. The authority would construct 120 two BHK flats and 80 3 BHK flats. Similarly, 132 and 176 two BHK and three BHK flats respectively would be constructed at Mainawati Road. In Shatabdi Nagar phase IV scheme, there would be 1,200 two BHK flats and 256 three BHK flats.
Besides these three projects, KDA is also going to construct 1,300 flats in Vikas Nagar.
KDA had released Rs 29 crores for these projects. It would develop two BHK flats on 75.93 square metres of land. It would cost Rs 25 lakhs. Three BHK flat would cost around Rs 35 lakhs. It would be constructed on 111.05 sq metres area.
A team of KDA had met the officials of environment department recently and asked to clear the proposals.
