NOIDA: An FIR has been filed against a real estate company for allegedly cancelling a flat booked by a lawyer in Sector 119.

Dharmendra Jain, the lawyer practising in Surajpur district court in Greater Noida, said he had booked a flat in a building constructed by Fortune Holding Pvt Limited.

"The flat was priced Rs 48 lakh. I had paid Rs 1 lakh in advance and was sure of its possession once I made rest of the payment. But, later the company sent me an email, stating the booking was cancelled as I am a lawyer," Jain said, adding he lodged an FIR against the company management in Sector 58 police station, alleging discrimination based on profession.

A senior company official said that the email was shot by some junior staffer by mistake. "We do not have any discriminatory policy against any person or any professional. We have offered flats to advocates and other people as well. We immediately corrected the mistake and wrote another email to him. We are ready to offer him flat. He can also take his money back if he wants," said Vinod Chaswal, vice-president, Fortune Holding.
