Balasore:The State Government is contemplating action against three erring revenue officials, including the former sub-collector of Balasore and tehsildar of Bhogarai, for their alleged involvement in a land scam.

The officials had allegedly favoured a private company by leasing out a patch of government land for a hotel near Talasari beach.

A probe was ordered following media reports recently.

RDC (Central) Arvind Padhee said the additional district magistrate was asked to probe the allegation, which was found to be true.

“The then sub-collector and tehsildar have violated the prevailing rules to lease out 1.

39 acres to the company.

They also dishonoured a Supreme Court ruling which clearly denies conversion of wet land to homestead,” he said.

Padhee said he had already written to the Government for disciplinary action against them and asked the Balasore Collector to place the revenue inspector under suspension for dereliction of duty.

“I have also directed the collector to stop the ongoing construction work and vacate the said land,” he added.

Sources said the company had already constructed a building on the government land and later applied to take it on lease.

It had offered another land in exchange.
