PUNE: Newly elected MLA from Chinchwad constituency, Laxman Jagtap has urged the state government to allot 2.5 FSI in Pimpri Chinchwad municipal limits to prevent the growth of unauthorized constructions.
Jagtap presented a memorandum to the state government appointed committee on unauthorized constructions. The committee headed by Sitaram Kunte, who is also the commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, held its meeting in Pimpri on Wednesday.
''It is financially not possible for common people to purchase houses. Land prices are increasing. If the government grants 2.5 FSI then it will be possible to built houses which are affordable to common people'', Jagtap said in his memorandum. The 2.5 FSI should be granted not only for constructions of the municipal corporation, but also for the Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority and the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.
Jagtap said additional constructions have been made to houses allotted by the PCNTDA. Similarly, constructions have taken place on PCNTDA land. Residential constructions have taken place on industrial land. Unauthorized constructions have been built on land reserved for development projects in the development plan of the municipal corporation, Jagtap said. Unauthorized commercial constructions have also taken place on land reserved in the development plan, he added.
