HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad district administration will soon upload details of government land located in 16 mandals on its portal:

With just a click, citizens could view land details, images of government land, extent of land, location, survey number and town survey land record (TSLR) before carrying out any land transactions.

Hyderabad might become the first district in Telangana in providing government land details through the official portal for the convenience of the general public and also official use.

In the existing system, the revenue authorities used to depend on revenue records, wasting a lot of time on getting details. To get accurate details of government land parcels in 16 mandals, the Hyderabad district administration had provided gadgets (Tabs) to all 16 mandal tahsildars and imparted training to them on how to develop data in 2013.

After a year, the tahsildars had collated government land and even took images of the open land, including boundaries, extent of land and area.

"As per details with the Hyderabad collectorate, around 66-acre litigation-free government land is available in 16 mandals. Shaikpet has the largest extent of litigation-free government land, 10.02 acres, followed by Saidabad. The details of these land parcels will be uploaded on the official portal in three weeks," Hyderabad collector Mukesh Kumar Meena told STOI

"Once the details are posted on the portal, it will help people intending to buy property to verify details before investing their money. This can help avoid disputes over government land and private land. There were some instances. Due to lack of information, some private persons purchased government land and still many cases caught in legal tangle, he said.

In fact, the number of complaints on government land encroachments has come down drastically after the Hyderabad district administration initiated measures like constructing compound walls. "Earlier, during the weekly 'Mee Kosam' programme, we used to receive at least three complaints on government land encroachment. Now, it has come down drastically," the collector replied.
