CHANDIGARH: INLD on Tuesday urged Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki to restrain Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led state government from issuing licences to developers just ahead of the model code conduct, which could be enforced anytime for the upcoming assembly elections.
Senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala said the government had already issued 146 licences under affordable housing policy till September 1 in comparison to 113 licences in 2013. "Sixteen of them belong to Gurgaon's builders only and many of them have controversial background. We are not against issue of licences, but due to the hurry, legal formalities are not being followed," he alleged.
The state government is issuing licences to developers for constructing residential and commercial buildings for low-income groups under its affordable housing policy.
