Hyderabad: Several initiatives proposed by the State government for improving infrastructure for industries and special economic zones has come as a major fillip for the realty sector in the past few months.
Though the sentiment was a bit low in the wake of the bifurcation of the State initially, the proposals for developing an airport at Dagadarthi and another port at Dugarajapatnam have sent a positive message across to the people of the region. Following this, the realty sector has made some gains in and around Nellore city, which is expected to get two major Centrally-funded schemes for underground drainage and drinking water supply soon.
The development of various mega and small scale industries on either side of the National Highway has attracted skilled workers from all over the country. Nellore city, which has a population of 6 lakhs now, is seeing a steady increase in the number of employees coming and staying here over the years.
“There are nearly 32,000 small scale industries in Nellore district. They have created nearly 1.36 lakh jobs already. More employment opportunities will be created in the coming months which will lead to considerable growth,” said Collector M. Janaki.
There are several mega industrial projects apart from the thermal power stations coming up in the vicinity of Nellore. They are expected to attract nearly 50,000 employees from this region and outside. This is said to have potential to create big demand for realty sector in future.
