KANPUR : Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) sealed several under-construction illegal buildings on Sunday. CP Tripathi, additional secretary, not only ordered to take legal action against the owners of illegal buildings but also sought explanation from concerning officials responsible for allowing the construction of such buildings.
A team led by C P Tripathi raided several sealed buildings and found illegal construction in progress. The team noticed illegal construction in two buildings in Prem Nagar. A house (No.105/732) in thiss area got sanctioned the building map for three storeyes but on spot it was found that the owner had constructed six storeyes besides a basement. Another building adjacent to this house has been developed into six storeyed building without seeking sanction of the building map. The team also found illegal construction at P Road where one Mahesh Meghani was constructing a building without the sanctioned map. Similarly, it found that one Vikas Nigam and Saleem were constructing their houses also without sanctioned building plan. At Chamanganj the team found that two five storeyed buildings had been raised even without a building plan while in Azadnagar the house of one Subhash Gupta was sealed for illegal construction. The house owner had allegedly broken the seal and started the construction of the building.CP Tripathi said, "All illegal constructions have been sealed. I have received information from my own sources that illegal construction goes in full swing during holidays. I have sought explanation from zonal officials about the illegal construction in their respective jurisdiction".
Lasy year, the KDA had sealed more than 350 ilegally constructed buildings in the city. Some builders in connivance with officials had allegedly broken the seal and continued the construction which was again sealed. KDA vice-chairman Jayshree Bhoj had taken stern steps against some junior engineers and issued show cause notices to them and attached some of them with his office.
