Kanpur: Kanpur Development Authority had decided to sell its colonies to present occupiers. Registration for this purpose started on Monday.
There are 8,450 flats in various colonies situated in the city. As per the decision taken by KDA, flats might be sold to present occupier at the cost of Rs 2.60 lakhs to 14.08 lakhs. In the first phase, 2,560 flats in eight colonies would be sold.
These colonies are at Gwaltoli (42 flats), Usmanpur (404 flats), Parampuwa Colony (102 flats), Juhi Bamburahiya (36 flats), Juhi Peeli Colony (204 flats), Govind Nagar (1,268 flats), Dada Nagar (396 flats) Natraj Talkies Colony (108 flats).
According to KDA sources, registration would continue till October 30. The purchasers would get a rebate of 20% if he would pay full and final payment within one month.
Meanwhile, KDA vice-chairman had asked officials to assess the value of the remaining 5,890 flats in 11 colonies so that they could also be sold to present occupiers. The authority is getting nominal sum as rent from those properties and spending too much on maintenance.
