GUNTUR: Coming down heavily on the State government, CPM affiliated raithu sangham has said that the entire process of land pooling is against the Supreme Court (SC) directives and norms of Land acquisition Act.
Addressing a meeting of farmers in Mangalagiri on Thursday, raithu sangham district secretary Y Radhakrishna said that acquiring green fields for capital was illegal. Stating that the land pooling process had no legal sanctity, Radhakrishna alleged that the government was only trying to deceive the farmers in one way or the other.
CITU division secretary JV Raghavulu criticised the government plans for acquiring the lands by force. He said that the government would face stiff resistance if it try to acquire the land at gun point. He said that acquiring huge extents of lands for capital was only to help the corporate companies not the region. He said that capital could be constructed just in 1000 acres and trying to take away the green fields was unjustifiable.
He said that no government made the farmers millionaires as the heads of the governments were interested in protecting the interests of crorepathis. "In fact, the farmers never demanded the government to make them millionaires as was being promised by Naidu. The government, which failed to clear the compensation for oustees of pulichintala, highway widening, has no moral right to make further promises," said Raghavulu.
