The CBI sleuths on Friday raided premises of a former settlement officer in connection with a land scam in Andharua area on City outskirts.
The residential premises of Shreedhar Mishra at Dumduma and Tangi (Cuttack) were searched by the CBI officials. During the search, important documents have been seized. Mishra was an assistant settlement officer when the land fraud had taken place. Earlier in October last year, the CBI had cracked down on a realtor and three Revenue officials in connection with grabbing of a two-acre land at Andharua.
The investigating agency had been directed by the Orissa High Court (HC) to probe the case after a petition was filed before the HC by Bichitrananda Harichandan, reportedly brother of the real estate dealer in question Subash Samantray.
Samantray had allegedly got a two-acre patch in Andharua village leased in his name in 2008 by influencing two assistant settlement officers Debaraj Das and Artatrana Mallick and a clerk Bijay Muduli apart from Mishra. However, when it came to get the land mutation done, a petition was filed before the HC alleging that the work had been held up by the Bhubaneswar tehsildar although lease was available since 1960. The HC saw incongruities in the matter and asked CBI to inquire.
