BHUBANESWAR: The state government would soon issue show-cause notices to those who have secured multiple plots and houses under discretionary quota (DQ) by furnishing false affidavits.
"The modalities for implementing recommendations of the task force have been finalized. Stringent action will be taken against persons, who availed multiple plots/flats/houses by furnishing false affidavit or other misleading information," said an official release of general administration (GA) department.
An officer of the department said the allottees will be allowed to present their case before Bhubaneswar Development Authority, Cuttack Development Authority and Odisha State Housing Board, which have the go-ahead to cancel the allotments. "Necessary decision for cancellation or resumption or otherwise will be taken after giving due opportunity of hearing the allottees," said the release.
The vigilance department will simultaneously initiate action in accordance with relevant criminal law with regards to the multiple allotments, the release added. There are at least 54 multiple properties.
On December 18, 2014, the government announced to cancel allotment of plots, houses and flats in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack under DQ since January 1, 1995. A total of 1,791 allotments would stand cancelled.
Official sources said the government is planning to conduct a comprehensive study to check irregularities in allotment of plots and land by the GA department prior to 1995.
