MATHURA: The Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) has issued notices to 128 builders of the district for payment of arrears of External Development Charge (EDC).
"The builders are supposed to pay Rs 41 crores as arrears of EDC as per revised rates of the state govt," MVDA Vice Chairman Nagendra Pratap Singh said.
Realization of EDC charges was suspended earlier since some parties had gone to the court against realization of such fee saying that no such charges have been framed by the govt.
"Earlier EDC for commercial colonies was Rs 587 per square meter while for residential colonies it was Rs 395 per square meter.
"Now the state govt has framed the rules in this regard and has set Rs 700 per square meter EDC for commercial as well as residential colonies," he said.
"Since a govt order for the realization of arrears has been issued, we shall realize the arrears," Kumar said, adding notices have been issued to 100 residential colonies too.
External development charges are levied by the developer on the buyer for developing infrastructure within certain complex.
