The future of the country lies in sustainable urbanization. With the participants drawn from the world of real estate development, finance, urban planning and advanced technologies, the conference will debate the various aspects of the emerging urban scenario. Prominent speakers addressing the daylong conference include:

• Ms Naini Jayaseelan, IAS, Member Secretary, NCR planning Board, Govt. of India • Shri Amitabh Kant, IAS, MD, DMIC Development Corporation Ltd • SHri G.S.Sandhu, IAS Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development & LSG, Govt. of Rajasthan • Shri V.P.Baligar, CMD, HUDCO • Shri Mayank Saxena, Managing Director, Land Services, JLL • Shri Neeraj Bansal, Partner , Risk Consulting , KPMG • Shri Rakesh Kaul, CEO, Experion Developers Pvt. Ltd. • Shri Michael Jansen, Chairman, CityZenith, Chicago, USA Mr. Navin Raheja,

President of NAREDCO said “ NAREDCO is pleased to organize this conference as the future if India lies in its cities. Even the Government has increased allocation towards urban development. This will serve as an ideal platform for the industry, government and other stakeholders to come together and discuss as to how we can plan our future cities and develop them into sustainable habitats. In the coming few years around 50% of the country’s population will stay in cities, hence this platform becomes very important for us to discuss and plan our future cities.”

For the first time in Indian history, the urban population has grown faster than the rural. The Annual Exponential Growth Rate of urban population over the decade 2001-2011 has been 2.76 percent, resulting in an increase in urbanization from 27.8 percent to 31.2 percent. The new urban population has been absorbed mainly by the 4 megacities, 53 million-plus cities, and 2532 new ‘census towns’. On the one hand, the megacities and large metros are becoming more crowded. It is now widely recognized that more efficient planning of cities is the only way in which the economies of scale created by large densities of population do not become diseconomies, burdening the market and the exchequer with bad assets and creating urban blight, from which urban societies around the world have taken decades to recover. This conference aims to address all these points by bringing all stakeholders under one platform.”

National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) was established as an autonomous self-regulatory body in 1998 under the aegis of Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India. The Indian housing and real estate sectors and the allied industries hailed the establishment of NAREDCO, as the apex national body for the real estate industry and visualized it as a single platform where Government, industry and public would discuss various problems and opportunities face to face which would result in speedy resolution of issues. It was formed with the mandate to induce transparency and ethics in business and transform the unorganized Indian real estate sector into a matured and globally competitive business sector. The National Real Estate Development Council strives to be the collective force influencing and shaping the real estate industry. NAREDCO works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the growth of real estate industry in India, partnering industry and government alike through advisory and consultative processes.
