NRI woman's father arrested for property fraud

LUDHIANA: A non-resident Indian based in England, Irendeep Brown, 34, got a case registered against her father, brother and uncle for allegedly duping her of money to buy property. Her father has been arrested but the other accused are yet to be apprehended.

 

"It is not a question of money. My faith in relations has been killed. My own father and brother duped me so how can I trust anyone else. I am scared of coming back to my own house in Dugri Phase I as my bother has threatened to murder me," Iren alleged.

 

She said her brother, Mandeep Singh Gujral asked her for money saying there was some property in Kharar that he wanted to buy for her. She sent five thousand pounds to him in April, 2012, after which he sent her documents of the property that he had claimed to have bought for her. On verification, she came to know there was no such property.
