PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has developed pmcconnect.in, a web-based application, to facilitate over seven lakh property owners in the city to pay their property taxes online.
"It is a self-service solution which will help citizens to manage the details of their online transactions. Once registered, citizens can view and pay their bills and also raise and track service requests," said Rajendra Jagtap, additional commissioner of PMC, while holding a press conference here on Thursday.
Jagtap said the system presently allows the payment of property tax. "However, new services like birth and death certificates will also go online soon," he said, adding that the property tax department is planning to send the property tax via email, the data for which will be collected using this app.
The system is integrated with the PMC's property tax website and will allow citizens to add their details like email ID and phone numbers in the system.
Pune has 7.8 lakh properties, including residential houses (self-occupied or rented out), office buildings, factory buildings, open plots, flats and shops, on which the levy is charged.
